AND FUNDRAISER

This year Nancy Thomas Photo is hosting the Put Your Art into it Contest Series in conjunction with a Fundraiser for ARTSPACE OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN. All Finalists will be allowed to submit their artwork into the end of the year exhibition at Artspace. This is where additional voting will take place and competition for 2 AWARDS will come to a close.

1. ASPIRING ARTIST OF THE YEAR AWARD (based on ART Submission)
   
2. PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD (based on most VOTES/FUNDS)
   

VOTING: this year each VOTE= $1

Still working out the details (sooo much exciting stuff to come) but for now, for each qualifying Finalist:

• Voting will take place each month for the "Featured First Friday Artist"
  
• Each Finalist will be required to raise 100 votes which equals $100 dollars for each entry they want submitted into the ARTSPACE Exhibit. You will have until the end of the year to raise these 100 votes through individual pledges in order to enter your image. Details will be provided to you.
• All Finalists who raise 100 votes within every 30 day period will receive DOUBLE VOTES for their entry throughout the year.
  
• The monthly "Featured First Friday Artist" winner will receive Media Recognition and 50 Free Votes.
  

We will be posting more info on the ART 4 OUTREACH Fundraiser along with website shortly.

Photographer of the Year Awards

So funny that I host my own photo competition but have never submitted images into competition myself. Well, I finally participated in a contest for Photographer of the Year of 2010! Although I did not steal the spotlight I am extremely proud to announce placing 2nd amongst such amazing talent in the Wedding Photographic Society. I'll chalk it up as a win;)

Looking forward to the Aspiring Photographer of the Year Awards that will follow 2011's

2010 Contest Series comes to a Close

As I gear up for Fall Sessions and the Holiday Season the 2010 Contest Series comes to a close. I had such a blast featuring some local talent at the First Friday Events! Thank you to all who participated. Keep up the good work! Since it was such a success I will certainly entertain the idea of launching another Contest Series in the near future.

If you were a Finalist and have not yet picked up your submission print that I hung up for voting please contact me to schedule a time to swing by the studio and get it. You will have until Oct 15th to pick up your complimentary print.

Can't believe I am already in full motion with Holiday Sessions. This week will be the last Beach Session Series of the Season as I venture to Carolina Beach & Kure Beach once more:)!!!

Voting will take place at the studio by those who visit and view your work on 1st Friday (invite people to come out and vote!)

Winner will receive a 1-hour mentoring session with Nancy Thomas [ask questions…tweak your skills]

Winner and 2 top honorable mentions will be featured in local bagel/coffee shop for 1 month.

ELIGIBILITY and RULES:

2. Only amateur photographers are eligible. Anyone who derives less than 5 percent of his or her income from photography is considered an amateur.
3. Anyone can enter. No Age requirement. Students Welcome!
4. Entrant must have captured and created the original exposure. Include photographers name in caption area.
5. A maximum of 2 entries may be submitted per entrant. No two entries shall be of the same subject.

Award Winning Images for WPS

Okay...sooo many exciting things happening I can hardly keep up!! The First Quarter Competition results were delivered last week. I am very pleased to announce that 3 out of 4 images submitted placed in 3 different categories.

So many talented photographers in this area and as a member of WPS I am proud to stand with them in representing the EAST COAST COMMUNITY!

1st Place Portraits Category - Nancy Thomas - Q1 2010 WPS Image Competition

JUDGES COMMENT:

More on the conventional side, however the location and vantage point really opens it up. The character of the couple is felt in this shot: light, airy, natural, fun.
Simple, clean and beautiful. The lower angle helps give you a sense of space and great use of available light on the couple. This is a photo which I know they are going to enjoy for a very-very long time. Well done.
First off, excellent exposure! The slight boost of light on the couple and the darkening of their surroundings lets the viewer know that, without question, this image is about the people; the depth of field seconds that motion. Now that it has 100% for technical merit, the people having the perfect pose and pleasing facial expressions puts this image into the realm of “ideal.”

JUDGES COMMENT:

They just look so happy to be married. This image makes me smile and I’m sure they have this hanging in their home. Wonderful image that captured the moment of the couple heading from the church to the reception.

Fun and fun with the bubble guns! This photo makes me smile and the bubbles make for an interesting design element. The shallow depth of field really helps to bring the bubbles out, too. I want to reach in and pop them.

A candid moment that is both charming and compelling. The camera tilt is a nice touch.

Announcing: Amateur Pet Photo Contest! [details to be posted soon]

SPCA Dog Walk 2010

Nancy Thomas and her team of photographers were out donating their services on Saturday, April 17th to capture images of the SPCA's 5th Annual Dog Walk held in Downtown Raleigh. 3,200 people and 1,500 4 legged friends took to the streets of downtown Raleigh for a record setting Dog Walk! The event was a huge success.

All images from the event will be available for purchase on our website starting April 24th CLICK HERE TO VIEW & PURCHASE. ALL PROCEEDS from Print Orders will be donated to the SPCA of Wake County to care for homeless pups.

Remember to get in touch with us soon and book your pet portrait session. We're donating 10% of Session Fees to the SPCA when you book in April & May! We currently have session availability in June & September - December. Your images are perfect for holiday cards as well! We offer a wide variety of albums, wall art, storybooks, and cards to showcase you're memories.
