Spunky Punky Fundraiser and Light the Night Walk 2009

I photographed Vanessa's maternity just 2 days before Keely was born. (just in time) She was my first "YEAR in the LIFE" session when I moved here to NC and was able to watch her grow during that first monumental year. For those of you who are familiar with my HOME PAGE of my website...that baby face is KEELY at 3 months old. Thanks to Vanessa and Brian's encouragement and love of my work I gained the belief that I should start my own business. Once I saw Vanessa cry when viewing Keely's photos I then understood how important it was for me to share my artistic vision by capturing the most precious moments in peoples' lives. It was then that I began my journey to Blend Art and Soul using the medium of photography!

Keely turned 4 years old this past April and sadly has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Although she is a fighter with an amazing spirit she still has a tough journey ahead of her. Her positive and "Spunky" attitude come from her amazing parents. Vanessa and Brian now have 3 children and I can not imagine 2 people being more supportive, loving, patient and positive then these two. They are truly inspirational and role models for any parent going through difficult times like this. I want to honor Brian, Vanessa and Keely by doing all I can to help raise money for Keely's treatment and for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Luann and Pong ROCKED! With 1000's of people around we worked hard during this session. Thanks for all your enthusiasm. There was only one way to get rid of all the people on the ground during the Cherry Blossom Festival...Aim High!

Their Story:

• How we met:
  - we met in college. I went to UNC and he was an NCState boy. We met through mutual friends. We ran into each other all the time at parties and we have actually met a few times before he remembered who I was, which was 2 years later. We knew of each other but never really hung out. At the time, my younger sister was my roommate.
  - My sister and I were at his parents' restaurant and Pong waited on us. He wrote his number on my togo box hoping I would call him. Days and weeks went by and he realized that I wouldn't call, so he worked up the courage to ask for my number. So cute "um..can I have your number?"
  
• Our First Date:
  - the first time he called me to meet up, he came by my dorm with a dog borrowed from his best friend. We sat and talked at the Old Well and was so immersed in our conversation that we didn't realize the dog got mad and peed on us. Our first date was at Miami Subs on Franklin street (when it was still opened at the time).
• Location: Outerbanks, NC
• Date and Where or How he proposed:
  - 9/21/08, the day after a close friend's wedding (she was the one who introduced us). He woke me up at 6 am to go watch the sunrise. I was stunned because he's not a morning person, so I made myself roll out of bed and put on a hoodie to hide my morning look. When we got to the hotel's elevator, he realized that he had forgotten to bring the ring. So he made an excuse of "needing to brush his teeth" and ran back to the room. We were sharing the room with two other close friends who knew about the proposal. While I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, one of the friends frantically looked through his bag and clothes to find the ring. I was clueless to this until they told me later. When we got outside, the sun wasn't out yet, so he held out the ring at where the sun would come out and said "I'll make it shine for you". Haha, he's corny like that, but I love it. I didn't have my contacts on so I was squinting to see something metalic and shiny. My first words were "are you kidding me?" When I realized it was my ring, I jumped up and down laughing/crying. He then got on his knee and said a bunch of sweet stuff, but all I can remember is "I love you and will you marry me?" It was so perfect because I got to share the news with all of my close friends since they were all there for the wedding.
• Our favorite things to do or places to go:
  - In our prime, we used to go dancing a lot, but now that we are older, we like to travel to different cities and trying out local foods. We really enjoy making brunch for ourselves, friends, and family. Pong helps out at his parents' restaurant on the weekend eversince we first met, and still does. Whenever I am back in town, I would hang out in the back while he works, and at the end of the night, we would sit down with his family to have dinner and chat at the back room of the restaurant. I just love it because it reminds me of how lucky I am. NOt only is he a wonderful friend, he is also an amazing son and brother.
• Wedding Date: Sunday 8/23/09
• Location: Highgrove Estate in Fuquay Varina
